Trinity Falls Celebrates Community at 4th Annual Trail Day 5K

A little drizzle couldn’t dampen the fun at the 4th Annual Trinity Falls Trail Day 5K! Held in June as a celebration of National Trails Day, the family-friendly event brought together runners, walkers, families and neighbors for a morning of fitness, fresh air and giving back.

With the community cheering them on, participants of all ages ran or walked along Trinity Falls’ scenic, paved trail system, enjoying the natural beauty that makes the community such a special place to call home.

A little friendly competition kept the energy high throughout the event. Cash prizes were awarded to the top overall male and female finishers, while top runners in each age division took home trophies of their own. Even the littlest race-day participants joined the fun, with a special award celebrating the event’s top stroller strider. After crossing the finish line, runners cooled down and celebrated with a complimentary snow cone from Kona Ice, making for a sweet ending to a memorable day on the trails.

More Than a 5K

The fun continued well beyond the finish line with a lively post-race celebration for participants and the community. Local outdoor, recreation and fitness vendors joined the festivities, along with music, photo opportunities and a disc golf demonstration.

All attendees were treated to an extra-special event activation experience with Ms. Bug, releasing ladybugs into nature and adding a touch of wonder and outdoor fun with nature to the morning’s festivities.

Racing for a Good Cause

While the Trail Day 5K is a great way to get outside, enjoy nature and stay active, one of the most meaningful parts of the annual event is the opportunity to give back.

This year’s race raised over $20,000 for local non-profits. Proceeds from this year’s race benefited three local nonprofit organizations: Meals on Wheels Collin County, Blood Cancer United and the McKinney Rotary Club. Each organization makes an important impact in the community, making every step taken on race day even more meaningful.

The Trail Day 5K is just one of the many ways Trinity Falls brings residents and the surrounding community together throughout the year while showcasing the community’s extensive trail system, lakes and 350-acre nature park.
